My Blackmagic 6K Pro Rig Build for 2024

I’ve had my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro for the last two and half years now. As productions get larger, and gear run time requirements get longer, I found myself earlier this year needing to build a cinema rig that would be both highly functional, but also, last longer with regards to power. As those Sony NPF-570 batteries don’t go along too well with the power hungry nature of the 6K Pro (typically I get 45 - 60 minutes of use with one battery).

Thanks to SmallRig, providing their new VB99 Pro V-Mount battery, alongside their quick release plate and LWS baseplate, I’m able to power my 6K pro all day, swapping V-Mounts when needed, and additionally, am able to quickly switch to a handheld setup. The VB99 is definitely (in my opinion) the best looking V-Mount out there, with a lot of great port options, plus a built in LED screen, that is not only helpful, but very accurate for calculating battery perecentage.

The SmallRig VB99 Pro Battery. Excellent V-Mount Option!
